As the number of adverse early childhood experiences increases, so does the risk of developmental delays. In fact: 7+ types of traumatic events pretty much guarantees a developmental delay.
ACE Study in Alberta
Over 50% of the people interviewed in the Alberta ACE study reported at least one adverse childhood experience. From increasing the risk of chronic disease to a greater chance of alcoholism, early adversity dramatically affects health across a lifetime. The good news is that this is treatable, but are we doing all we can to treat it?
